Today we came back from the weekend to find that our Sweet Basil had sprouted! There was much celebration and jubilee...now everyone wants to have the job as class gardener. During the day our plants will live outdoors in the courtyard outside our classroom. The class gardener and class litter patrol go outside several times during the day to lovingly spritz the basil and pick up trash along the way. I bet all the children do the same at home, right?
I graduated from Southwest Texas State University with a B.S. in Education. I've taught both private and public school for 20 years. I was an active neighborhood parent at Mark Twain (now my daughter is starting middle school at Pin Oak!)...and am proud to teach there, too! I am excited about providing a challenging inquiry based experience as well as creating a caring, reflective and supportive classroom community.
