Ethan's Summer

I hear Ethan experienced some really neat things this summer! Ask Ethan how to snap green beans...his cousin and Grandma Patty showed him how! He also caught (and released) catfish on his Grandpa Basil's farm and learned how to become a skilled archer! You'll have a lot to write about in your journal!

Elizabeth

Elizabeth spent the day at the Bellaire Aquatic Center and it looks like she had a great time!

Jackie's Summer

Jackie proved you can have LOTS of fun sticking pretty close to home!

Kit Kittredge

Three girls I know redeemed their "Bash Movie Pass with Mrs. Phillips!" We saw Kit Kittredge: an American Girl and loved it. Newsflash...it's NOT just for girls! There is a mystery involved and I think the guys would like it, too. Go see it before it is gone!

Historic 4th Ward School

Maggie and I went to an old school house in Virginia City that was open from 1876-1939! The students were in grades 1-12...all in one small building. We sat in the desks, wore the dunce hat, pretended what it must be like to be a student or teach there and we even got to ring the bell like Miss Wilder in Little House on the Prairie!

Ben in the San Juan National Forest

Add ImageHere is Ben horseback riding in the San Juan National Forest. I hear his horse was named Radar. I was told he has a muzzle on his mouth not because he is a biter but because he's an eater!

Ben in Animas Forks, Colorado

This is a picture of Ben in an old house in a ghost town called Animas Forks. The town was way up in the mountains and was an old gold and silver mining town. The town is called a ghost town because when all the gold and silver ran out, everyone moved away!

Mark Twain Museum

We went to a Mark Twain Museum in Virginia City, Nevada. The desk that Maggie is sitting in front of was Samuel Clemens desk 165 years ago when he was a reporter and used the name, Mark Twain! Isn't that neat?

Truckee River

We went rafting down the Truckee River in California today. It was a lot of fun...the water was freezing cold! We saw big Rainbow Trout in the water, geese, baby ducklings, and last year I even saw a river otter...no such luck this year!

Summer is here!

My summer school class is over and I can finally relax a bit and have some fun! We are in Lake Tahoe visiting my family for a few weeks. So far, we have gone to Incline Beach, sailing cruise at Zephr Cove State Park and Sand Harbor Beach...Maggie loves climbing on the rocks there! The lake is very foggy from smoke due to wildfires in northern California...so the view isn't what we are used to. What are ya'll up to?
